Thunder, one of Britain’s most enduring hard rock bands, has recently launched two live albums that were buried in the archives.

Live At Islington Academy features a typically outstanding performance from the “Robert Johnson’s Tombstone” tour.

This pretty cool gig was part of Planet Rock Radio’s first Christmas Bash on December 19, 2006, and saw Thunder playing to an exclusive crowd of 800 fans.

Thunder’s spontaneous appearance led to a high-energy set filled with their greatest hits, including “River Of Pain” and “Low Life In High Places,” ending in an exhilarating encore with the hit “Dirty Love.”

They know how to conclude a show with a BANG!

Classic Thunder live

Live At Leeds captures a more formal performance recorded on March 3, 2015. This time, they just didn’t wander in from the back door.

This concert was part of a significant arena tour supporting their acclaimed album Wonder Days described by the late Malcolm Dome of Classic Rock magazine as a shining example of Thunder‘s timeless appeal.

Hitting the road at this time was particularly meaningful as it marked rhythm guitarist and keyboardist Ben Matthews’ return after his throat cancer treatment, adding a deeply emotional dimension to the shows.

Songs that exploded from the good ol’ UK boys guitars featured a balanced mix of Thunder’s hit songs and six tracks from “Wonder Days.”

Live At Islington Academy and Live At Leeds both underscore Thunder’s reputation as stellar live performers.

America should know them better!

Fans have the opportunity to experience these solid and always professional (yet at the same time not without spontaneity) shows, as both are available on CD, vinyl, as well as for digital download and streaming.

Reviews:

“From the outset of the title album track, and through songs such as Black Water, Resurrection Day, The Devil Made Me Do It, When The Music PlayedThe Thing I Want, the sheer thrill of Backstreet Symphony, Love Walked In, Low Life In High Places, and Dirty Love, the three date tour in support of the album is keenly felt and if there was any tentative feeling of apprehension, then it is completely, and wonderfully unheard in the performance, a seismic and fantastic performance that metaphorically blows the roof off the venue.” – Liverpool Sound and Vision

“Taken together, Islington and Leeds demonstrate just how potent Thunder are as a live act. They pack a heft when they rock out, but they’re also capable of equally effective slower tunes, and both these sets go some way to enhancing their rep.” – RAMlive
