Sammy Hagar & Joe Bonamassa Team Up on “Fortune Teller Blues”

Sammy Hagar never slows down.
He could never drive 55.
Whether he’s rocking out with The Circle, jamming with old friends, or pouring up another batch of his signature tequila, the Red Rocker stays busy.
But his latest collaboration with blues guitar virtuoso Joe Bonamassa on the new single “Fortune Teller Blues” is a pairing that few saw coming—and one that works ridiculously well.
Released on February 2, 2024, the track is a blues-rock powerhouse, not a teaser for a full-length Bonamassa-Hagar album (unfortunately).
Still, this one-off collaboration packs enough firepower to satisfy fans of both artists.
“Fortune Teller Blues” – A Monster of a Track
Built on a driving blues shuffle, “Fortune Teller Blues” finds Bonamassa laying down thick, swampy riffs while Hagar delivers his signature raspy wail.
Not bad for a guy that seems to defy age at a time when many retire.
The song straddles the line between raw Delta blues and full-throttle rock, with Bonamassa’s guitar solos adding a searing edge to the groove.
Hagar himself seems pretty thrilled with how it turned out, telling Ultimate Classic Rock, “Holy shit, the thing came out good… the track is a monster.”
That’s classic Sammy—never one to mince words.
The guy ain’t shy!
Lyrically, the song taps into blues traditions, spinning a tale of fate, bad luck, and mysticism. Musically, it’s a high-octane jam session between two masters of their craft.
“Fortune Teller Blues” – It Makes Perfect Sense
On paper, a Hagar-Bonamassa team-up might seem unexpected.
When you consider their mutual respect for the blues, it clicks.
Hagar’s always had bluesy grit beneath his hard rock bravado, and Bonamassa, despite being a blues purist at heart, has never shied away from big, arena-ready sounds.
“Fortune Teller Blues” isn’t just a jam—it shows how effortlessly these two legends can fuse their styles.
Something like that. Rock never dies!
Where to Listen to “Fortune Teller Blues”
“Fortune Teller Blues” is available now on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
If you’re a fan of either of thesse dudes – or just love blues-infused rock done right – get on it!
Whether this collaboration will lead to more music together, there’s no official word.
But given Hagar’s relentless energy and Bonamassa’s love of a good jam, it wouldn’t be surprising if they crossed paths again in the studio.
Until then, crank up “Fortune Teller Blues” and enjoy the magic letting loose. Too bad there’s no more MTV!
