Okay, let’s chat about Luke Morley’s most recent album, Songs from the Blue Room.

It’s seriously a cool collection of tunes, each one with its own vibe.

Luke is currently on the road with The Quireboys, and has a follow-up solo album in the works (if not finished already).

But we’re a little slow here in America. So let’s get started.

First up, “I Wanna See The Light” sneaks up on you right at you out of the gate. There’s a slow build, then it’s like that first cup of coffee in the morning – waking you slowly then some instant energy.

You’ll be tapping your toes before you know it.

Then he hits you with “Killed By Cobain,” a tribute to Kurt Cobain, but it’s more than just a fan song.

It really makes you think about Cobain’s impact and how it changed trends in the music industry.

But then it becomes ironic as Morley sings – “…but I love every song” and “it really doesn’t matter no more.”

“Errol Flynn” is a neat little escape. You can practically picture yourself on a movie set in old Hollywood. In black in white with film grain.

It’s got this playful, nostalgic feel.

“Damage” is a bit of a barroom sing-a-long. Piano intro, intertwining guitars, honest vocals. There’s some real emotion in there. Also some Queen-like guitar melodies.

“Nobody Cares” is a bit of a downer, honestly, but in a good way. It’s about that feeling of being alone, and Morley really captures it perfectly.

We’ve all been there, right?

Time to chill out with “Watch The Sun Go Down.” This one’s acoustic and mellow, perfect for when you just want to unwind and reflect on things.

Get ready to feel some things with “Cry Like Rain.” It’s a beautiful song, but it’s also kind of heartbreaking. Morley’s voice is just filled with emotion.

“Lying To Myself” is super catchy, with a bluesy groove. It’s about relationship struggles and doubt we all sometimes have. Great campfire vibe.

“I’m The One You Want” is pure confidence. This is Morley saying, “Hey, I’ve got this.” It’s impossible not to get into the groove.

And finally, “Don’t Be Long” wraps things up as a piano ballad. Tender and caring. Then you feel the build. You expect the drums to come in to a dramatic ending. Then it tones down. Very nice.

Overall, Songs from the Blue Room is a really solid album.

Morley shows off his range, and there’s something for everyone. Kinda like what he does with his full-time blokes in Thunder.

Trust me, you’ll want to give this one a listen (or two, or three…).
