Dan Baird – Still NOPE to Georgia Satellites Reunion?

Dan Baird apparently wants to still keep his hands to himself. At least that’s our opinion!
Dan Baird, the former face of Georgia Satellites, has in the past made it clear that a reunion of the band is not in the cards.
In a 2017 interview with Loudersound.com, Baird gave a definitive “Nope” when asked about the possibility of getting the Georgia Satellites back together. Though he declined to elaborate on his reasons, Baird hinted that it would require a “complicated and personal explanation” .
C’mon, Dan! Give the people what they want.
Well, rock n’ roll is a complicated business!
The Georgia Satellites, best known for their 1986 hit “Keep Your Hands to Yourself”, found success in the late 1980s, but Baird left the group in 1990 to pursue a solo career. Over the years, he has shared that the split was largely due to the band members no longer sharing the same goals, signaling that creative differences had led them down different paths .
While they will most likely never reunite with the recognized front man, fans can enjoy this bottle rocket of a live performance with Lightnin’ in a Bottle.
New Creative Ventures
Since leaving the Georgia Satellites, Baird has been anything but idle. He’s continued to evolve as an artist, forming new projects such as Dan Baird & Homemade Sin and, in 2022, The Chefs. These ventures have allowed Baird to explore new musical directions, collaborating with other musicians and focusing on smaller, more intimate performances.
Baird has embraced the changing landscape of rock music, acknowledging that it has become a more niche genre over the years. Rather than seeking mainstream success, he now enjoys playing for dedicated audiences, crafting music that resonates with a loyal fanbase. His new projects show that while a Georgia Satellites reunion may not be in the cards, Baird’s creative spirit is far from slowing down.
The Georgia Satellites Legacy
Despite the lack of a reunion, the legacy of the Georgia Satellites continues to endure, with “Keep Your Hands to Yourself” remaining a staple of classic rock radio. While fans may be disappointed that the band won’t reunite, Baird’s decision to focus on new projects shows his commitment to progressing as an artist rather than looking back.
